One Friend, One Place, Two Tributes.*
By: Ana Inés Mus
In the Jaula Mastiff in Mendoza, Argentina two separate expeditions were accomplished, driven by the spirit of adventure and as a tribute to a fellow mountaineer and friend, Federico Campanini, who died in January of 2009 in Aconcagua. It is important to note that both expeditions were organized separately and both groups didn’t know of the others plans. However, both expeditions took place within days of the other.
Friendship is what unites both groups that independently decided to pay tribute to a friend, perhaps it is because Federico had climbed there years ago and understood their attraction to this magical place.
